In my last post, I shared the importance of preparation. Since Covid-19 hit, in many ways it hit our worldviews and maybe even our career path we were on, especially for singers & musicians performing live. It’s forced us to slow down, re-evaluate and make some changes. We are in a time of rebuilding during 2020, discovering what is next for us and how we can get there. If you want to see ultimate growth and change in your life here in 2020, it’s going to require that you step up out of your comfort zone, take some chances and start building a strategy for success.
What are the steps needed to begin to move forward in life? It first starts with getting clarity. So now the question is, how do you get clarity? You start by asking questions, researching, trying new things, deciphering opportunities that come your way, and figuring out what’s right for you. As Brendon Burchard says in his book High Performance Habits, “It comes from asking yourself questions continually and further refining your perspective on life.”
Here’s where you really get to know yourself. When you start to really dig deep and ask yourself questions like who you are, what’s important to you, what are your strengths and weaknesses and where do you want to go, you begin to become more self-aware and gain confidence in who you are and what you’re capable of. When you start to get clarity from within by asking yourself these questions, you gain confidence and confidence breeds momentum.
As you are rebuilding your life in 2020, keep checking in with yourself regularly, seeking more answers to these questions:
- Who am I?
- What do I value
- What are my strengths & weaknesses
- Where do I want to go?
It’s ok to make changes to these answers as you go a long in life. The key is that you’re learning to be more self aware which will lead to greater confidence, which ultimately creates the momentum to act on what you want. Singers & musicians, I believe we are going to evolve and become better, carving out new paths in our careers as musicians and singers during 2020. This is your time to rebuild and find clarity. You got this!
